Scruffy’s underwent a comprehensive exterior and interior refresh. While long associated with the visual shorthand of an Irish bar, the design approach challenged the notion that Irish architecture is defined by green façades alone. A bold blue exterior was introduced and paired with the bar’s classic gold lettering, creating a distinctive identity that feels both confident and rooted in tradition.

The upper brickwork, originally in need of repair, was reframed as an opportunity for architectural enhancement. Refined brick detailing and substantial mouldings were added to reestablish visual hierarchy and restore interest to the building’s upper elevation. This design language extends seamlessly into the interior, where the space was clarified and re-organized. Thoughtful material updates addressed years of wear, resulting in a cohesive, refreshed environment that honors Scruffy’s character while elevating the overall spatial experience.
